40th Anniversary Celebration - October 15, 2011

Saxophonist Devin Phillips  Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian  Guests at DePaul Industries Celebration

With Portland Mayor Sam Adams officially declaring October 15, 2011 'DePaul Industries Day', DePaul Industries celebrated 40 years of service to its customers and people with disabilities on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Pure Space with a spirited and stylish birthday party attended by over 400 people.

KGW Meteorologist Rod Hill acted as master of ceremonies while the Devin Phillips Trio entertained mingling guests, who circulated the event space with signature 1971 'Old Fashioned' drinks and perused special THEN and NOW theaters displaying DePaul's rich history. Three evening segments featured short speeches from DePaul Industries' customers, supporters, and people with disabilities -- all speaking to DePaul Industries' ability to simultaneously enact business and social change.

Special guest speakers included Brad Avakian, Oregon Labor Commissioner; Alan Weinman, Contract Packaging Manager of Frito-Lay; and Karen Gaffney, President of the Karen Gaffney Foundation and champion of the extraordinary capabilities of people with disabilities.

Many thanks are due to the evening's sponsors, including presenting sponsor Melvin Mark Companies, and to all who attended the celebration.
