Youth Scholarship Program

Brooke came to the Training Centers as part of DePaul's Youth Scholarship Program where she studied keyboarding, 10-key, Word, Excel, job readiness, spelling, filing, recordkeeping, formatting, and outlook.

After showing great progress in her course work, Brooke signed up with DePaul Staffing Services to be on the available list. A part-time temporary position with DePaul Security came up that allowed Brooke to continue her classes while working.

"The past two weeks have been awesome—I’ve never been more excited about coming to school," said Brooke. " As you know, last week I started working upstairs for DePaul Security. What I’ve been doing for them is putting my basic Excel skills to work."

"With this training, I know that I will be mentally prepared to handle the real life situations and stress when it comes to really working. Also, it helps to be working only a couple hours a day, so that I’m still able to work on my skills downstairs, and keep up in all my assignments so I don’t fall behind."

After graduating, Brooke had more to say about her total DePaul experience. "In all honestly, I feel that coming to DePaul Industries was the best choice I’ve ever made, because through here, and only through here, was I be able to actually learn anything. Where I failed with college, I succeeded with DePaul," said Brooke
