Before I thought that I could not use a computer, and now I can use one and I can work with that in an office.

Edgar
Edgar had worked for many years within the construction field. Following an on the job injury, Edgar was no longer able to complete the necessary tasks that were required of him; therefore, it became necessary for him to gain additional skills that would allow him to enter into a different area of employment. Edgar was fortunate to pair one of the DePaul Industries training programs up with an on-site work experience position with Mano A Mano, an organization that provides support services for immigrant families. Edgar was enrolled in our Office Assistant program, and followed his training hours every day with "work" hours at Mano A Mano. His bilingual capabilities made him a tremendous asset. Throughout the six month time period that Edgar spent in attendance at the Training Center, he simultaneously gained the confidence and support of his on-site supervisor. Mano A Mano had expressed a desire to hire him on permanently following the completion of his training. Edgar completed all of his certificate requirements in September of 2007, and he immediately moved into full-time employment. |
