The transition into a learning environment was extremely difficult for the first month or so as this was all new to me, and I had a stressful time dealing with my nerves. With the help of our instructor, Kori, and other students, I made the transition and have enjoyed every day of my training.

Glenn
Glenn came to DePaul’s Salem Training Center following an on the job injury, which placed a significant limitation on the amount of time he could be on his feet and the type of work that he was able to do. He had many years of experience in the automotive and heavy machinery industry, and was faced with the inability to return to that field of work. Glenn was approved to complete a six month Office Assistant training program with DePaul. Glenn’s courses intensely focused on training in Microsoft Word, Excel, Math, Filing, Formatting, and 10-key. Immediately following his program completion, Glenn moved into an internship position with the Oregon Department of Corrections. He will be utilizing his acquired skills to perform a high level of Office Specialist work. This department was specifically interested in his ability to work with Excel. Despite difficulties with mobility in his hands, Glenn’s typing speed improved from 6.5 wpm to 30 wpm. |
