I was able to expect more of myself.
I believe I can achieve higher goals since completing my courses at DePaul.

Tara
Tara came to DePaul’s Portland Training Center on a referral from the
Oregon Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.
“I just buckled down,” is how Tara describes the reason for her great
success in DePaul Industries Training Center, where she completed the
4-month program in only 6 weeks. The future looks considerably brighter
to Tara now, as she has experienced a series of positive events that
have significantly increased her levels of self-esteem and confidence.
Although an adult, Tara, in some ways, sees her life just at the
beginning stage.
Supplementing her accelerated completion rate at the Training Center,
Tara signed up for additional studies and completed Office Specialist I
training in 4 months. The program typically lasts for 6 months.
Tara’s comments about the Training Center and the staff are uniformly
laudatory. “It is a positive place and there is a lot of praise,” she
notes. “The staff was very supportive and provided immediate help if you
needed it. The material was very easy to follow.”
Thanks to DePaul, Tara has new skills in Word, Access, Excel, Powerpoint,
Pagemaker, and what she calls “How to Shine as a New Employee.”
Once her training was complete, Tara got a job with the Salvation Army.
She has also enrolled at Portland Community College in pursuit of
becoming a drug and alcohol counselor.
